Beginning My Day In God

“…Our God is the God of salvation…to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death.”

Ps. 68:19-20: “Blessed be the Lord, who daily loads us with benefits, the God of our salvation! Selah Our God is the God of salvation; And to GOD the Lord belong escapes from death.” The words “Our God” imply the covenant relationship between God and His people.

The Amplified Bible renders the above verses as: “Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God Who is our salvation! Selah [pause, and calmly think of that]! God is to us a God of deliverances and salvation; and to God the Lord belongs escape from death [setting us free].”

Praise be to you my Father: O God of my salvation.

You bear my burdens today and all days,

I cast all my burdens upon you, Lord, 1 Pet. 5:7.

You are my salvation, O God, Isa. 12:2-3 —

Let me trust, and not be afraid; Lord, I praise you.

My God who keeps me free from the fear of death,

Who lifts me up from the gates of death, Ps. 9:13.

You are my life, and you are my peace

In health and in sickness, in life and in death.

I praise you for your salvation, Ps.9: 14. Amen

● We are exhorted to pause, and calmly think of this: “Blessed be the Lord, Who bears our burdens and carries us day by day, even the God who is our salvation!” Ps.68: 19, Amplified Bible. Here we may remember Pet. 5:6-7: “Therefore humble yourselves… casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.” Lord, I humble myself and cast all my burdens upon you, knowing you as the God of my salvation.

● It is a great comfort to remember that our God “carries us day by day,” Ps. 68:19-20, Amplified Bible.

Quote: “He is our God, and therefore He will be the God of eternal salvation to us; for that only will answer the vast extent of His covenant-relation to us as our God.” – Matthew Henry

Testimony: I happened to read Ps. 9:13-14 the day before my wife Lilly went home to be with the Lord: “Have mercy on me, O LORD!…You who lift me up from the gates of death, that I may tell of all Your praise in the gates of the daughter of Zion. I will rejoice in Your salvation.” Now it means much to me: The moment I die, God lifts me up from the gates of death to the gates of Zion, where I shall praise Him forever and ever.[I remember and give thanks for God delivering me from near-fatal accidents and illnesses. I remember and give thanks for the Lord keeping me from evil in temptations and trials.]

Memory Verse: Isa. 12:2-3: “Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; For YAH, the LORD, is my strength and song; He also has become my salvation. Therefore with joy you will draw water from the wells of salvation.”
