“…all things are possible to him who believes…”
Mark 9:23-24: “Jesus said to him, ‘If you can believe, all things are possible to him who believes.’ Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, ‘Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!'” [Context: A boy needed to be delivered from an evil spirit.]
In my time of need, Lord, let me believe.
Help my unbelief, Lord, and give grace.
May I desire what you have purposed for me, Lord,
Believe accordingly, and pray,
Receiving by faith all that you have prepared for me.
In my time of need, Lord, let me hear your voice:
May your Word come to me, and give faith for the moment, Rom. 10:17.
Lord, let me not fail to pray as I ought, Luke 18:1-8.
May my heart trust, and keep on trusting;
May my eyes look up, remembering your words:
“all things are possible to him who believes.” Amen.
● “Immediately the father of the child cried out and said with tears, “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” Help me, Lord, to pray as this man prayed in his need, and received healing for his son. We may pray for healing even if we think that our faith is weak: God’s mercy covers us. As we pray, our faith will increase.
● At the tomb of Lazarus Jesus said to Martha, John 11:40: “…if you would believe you would see the glory of God…” Lord Jesus, save me from all unbelief, so I may always trust you.
● The Lord Jesus warned, Luke 18:8 (see verses 1-8): “…Nevertheless, when the Son of Man comes, will He really find faith on the earth?” We are living in the end times. As we hear what the Spirit is speaking to us personally, we receive faith, Rom. 10:17: “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.”
● How may we pray for greater faith? See Luke 17:5-10, and note verse 10: “‘So likewise you, when you have done all those things which you are commanded, say, ‘We are unprofitable servants. We have done what was our duty to do.'” This is how Jesus concluded His teaching in response to the disciples’ request, v. 5: “Increase our faith.” Faith grows in a humble heart because God speaks to the humble.
Quote: “Help mine unbelief; help out what is wanting in my faith with thy grace, the strength of which is perfected in our weakness.” Matthew Henry
Testimony: I have prayed in great need on several occasions, and received help, especially healing and grace to endure. I give thanks. I ask the Lord to give me more faith, and a greater burden to pray.
Memory Verse: Ps. 103:2-3: “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits:
Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases.”
